If you’ve spent months planning your wedding down to the exact shade of ivory napkins and whether the candles should be warm white or soft white, I have some good news.
Your guests won’t notice.
As a wedding celebrant, I’ve learned that weddings are beautifully unpredictable. They are full of laughter, little mishaps and moments nobody could ever plan for.
And honestly?
Those are usually the moments everyone remembers.
So, in the spirit of reassuring every bride and groom currently stressing about the seating chart…
Here are a few confessions from the front of the aisle.
There are signs.
There are ushers.
There are instructions.
None of it matters.
Uncle Steve has chosen his seat and nothing short of a crane will move him.
Flower girls.
Page boys.
Toddlers.
They’re all tiny agents of chaos.
They’ll wave at strangers, pick flowers, sit down halfway down the aisle or announce they need the toilet.
Honestly, I love every second of it.
Usually Dad.
Sometimes Nan.
Occasionally the best man.
The tough-looking uncle who said he “doesn’t do emotions” is often the first to crumble.
Despite the announcement.
Despite every reminder.
Despite living in 2026.
Somebody’s ringtone will make an appearance.
Bonus points if it’s “Baby Shark.”
He’s standing there smiling…
Meanwhile his internal thoughts are something like:
“Please don’t faint.”
“Please remember the vows.”
“Please let the rings actually be here.”
The weather forecast says “light breeze.”
Your veil hears “Olympic gymnastics.”
Couples.
Parents.
Celebrants.
Sometimes all three at once.
Not because it’s funny.
Because nerves make humans wonderfully weird.
Left?
Right?
Face me?
Face them?
Every wedding has at least one tiny shuffle while everyone silently tries to remember Year 6 school assembly instructions.
Five minutes earlier they were sitting casually in someone’s pocket.
Now everyone watches them like they’re carrying the Crown Jewels.
Usually loud enough for everyone to hear.
At some point…
Someone almost drops it.
They’ll do anything for the perfect shot.
Respect.
Every.
Single.
Wedding.
…except the one thing everyone actually notices.
Her smile.
Those little moments where everyone laughs together?
That’s when a ceremony becomes unforgettable.
You know the one.
Giving directions.
Moving chairs.
Fixing flowers.
Nobody asked.
They’re living their best life.
It’s practically tradition.
Sunny.
Windy.
Cloudy.
Drizzle.
Sometimes all within fifteen minutes.
Trust me.
The couple notices.
The guests don’t.
After every wedding…
Do you know what couples say?
Not once have I heard:
“I wish the flowers were three centimetres taller.”
Instead they say things like:
“That was the happiest day of our lives.”
“I can’t believe how fast it went.”
“Everyone said the ceremony was their favourite part.”
That’s what matters.
Your wedding isn’t about perfection.
It’s about the way your partner looks at you when you walk down the aisle.
It’s about your family crying happy tears.
It’s about your friends laughing together.
It’s about the promises you make.
The rest?
They’re just stories you’ll laugh about later.
And trust me…
Those stories become the best part.
If you’re dreaming of a ceremony that’s heartfelt, relaxed, full of laughter and unmistakably you, I’d love to help.
Whether you’re planning a beach wedding, an intimate elopement or a celebration with everyone you love, we’ll create a ceremony that feels authentic from beginning to end.
I’d love to hear your story. Get in touch to check my availability.
